Shoe Goo – I Can Fix It Too

As I mentioned last week, I spent New Years Day fixing a bunch of shoes. What??? Doesn’t everybody? Anyway, I fixed a pair of boots that the shoe repair man wouldn’t touch. One boot had a broken heel and he told me not to bother. Oh yeah? Well with Shoe Goo – I can fix it too! I bought some Shoe Goo from eBay after researching DIY Shoe Repair.

Broken heel. So I filled the break with Shoe Goo, pressed it together, and wrapped it with electrical tape.

I let it cure for about a week or so. I tested it out yesterday and it held all day!

All fixed! With Shoe Goo I can fix it too!

DIY Shoe Repair

One of the things I have been putting off is shoe repair. I have a huge bag to take to the shoe man and the longer I put it off the worse it gets because the bigger the collection gets! Over the holiday I was cleaning out my closet and I sorted through my shoes in need of repair. I then went ahead and fixed a bunch of them myself! Most of them are still curing and I want to test them to make sure the repair holds. But here is a quickie I can share in the meantime. I had a pair of boots that had the bottom of the wrap on the heel worn away.

I wrapped the heel with black electrical tape.

Done! From a distance you can’t even tell! Fixed for less than a buck – how about that?

Contact Paper Covered Shoes

I redid some shoes!

20121119-233917.jpg
I found some wedge shoes at a yard sale for a buck. I brought them home, washed them, and wondered what would become of them.

20121119-234219.jpg
They were cute but a little outdated. The heel is very chunky and the strap too wide. But not for long! So many cute styles these days have floral or patterned covered heels. I found some beautiful contact paper at the 99 Cent Store and I knew it would be perfect for these shoes. The shoes had a ridge pattern on the wedge so I sanded them down and covered them with the beautiful black and white floral contact paper.

I also found a pillowcase at the 99 cent store that had a cute striped edge. I cut the strap of the shoe, folded it under, and glued it with Shoe Goo. I also trimmed the edge of the pillowcase and glued it on with the Shoe Goo.

I finished them with some furniture tacks that I had on hand.

So for about 3 bucks I updated some outdated wedges into cute contact paper covered shoes!

Cutest Bargain Shoes

As I was getting into my car last week after getting my taxes done I saw these shoes on display out in front of the store next door. Or maybe I heard them. I am pretty sure they were calling to me. Either way I answered. They were $15.99 on sale and now they are mine!

I Love Yard Sales! Guess Shoes!

I totally love yard sales! I got these shoes at a yard sale a couple of months ago. They are adorable Guess wedges, and Guess what? They were two bucks! Yes, I know they are white, and you are not supposed to wear white before Easter. But they were perfect for my navy and white outfit today! And so comfy! Plus I like breaking the rules a little bit ;)

Tip: I used to get grossed out about used shoes. Until a friend of mine taught me a tip. When shopping at a yard sale or thrift store, carry antiseptic wipes, like Lysol wipes, with you. Give the shoes a quick wipe and you can try them on. If they fit, and you like them, you can clean them thoroughly when you get them home.

Lucky Brand Shoes

I got these shoes last month when I was Christmas shopping.

Was that really only a month ago? Seems like years! Anyways, an unplanned shopping trip after work in high-heeled boots can result in sore feet. Something about those hard floors and high heels that don’t mix. I must get a pair of those collapsible foot-saver shoes that I can keep in my purse. So as I was walking around Ross Dress For Less – and my feet were killing me – with two more stores to go afterwards, I started looking for something to change into. I ran across these cuties on clearance for $11.99. Sold! I could hardly stand it in line, I wanted to change into them right then. I had seen a similar cammo style at Payless that week for $19.99. And these are Lucky Brand! The estimated value is $70. They are going for 30 bucks on ebay (I think I know where they came from). A bargain indeed.

Glitter Divaz!

I am not buying any clothes for a year, but that doesn’t include shoes! I bought these shoes online recently and was not disappointed! I was originally going to use them as a project, and glitter them up, but they are so gorgeous that I’m not going to touch them! Nude platforms are so on trend right now! I highly recommend this site, glitterdivaz.com for cute and trendy shoes at a super-low price! You do have to pay shipping but if you get a couple of pairs it is reasonable. A word of caution: watch the height, these shoes are higher than they look in the picture. But I wore them today and I did just fine. They are comfy too. And at $12.99, they are a total score, high fashion at a bargain-ista price!
