Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini

I have been a bit remiss with my Martini of the Month this year, but today I was inspired. I made a Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini and it was quite tasty! Tasted just like the real thing! Here is my recipe:

4 oz. Pinnacle Cake vodka
2 oz. Dole Pineapple Orange Banana juice
A splash of vanilla creamer (I used sugar free)

Combine ingredients in a martini shaker and do shake till your hearts content. This is incredibly delicious. Tastes just like pineapple upside down cake!

Shamrock Shake Martini

Happy St. Patty’s Day everyone! I have been a bit remiss with my Martini of the Month this year, but today I was inspired. I made a Shamrock Shake Martini and it was quite tasty! Here is my recipe for a Shamrock Shake Martini:

4 oz. Pinnacle Cake (or Whipped) vodka
1/2 tsp. mint extract
2 oz. vanilla creamer (I used sugar free)
A tiny bit of sweetener, either half a packet of Truvia or a tsp of sugar
Green Food Coloring (which I didn’t have so I used 3 drops of yellow and one blue – it was perfect!)
Combine ingredients in a martini shaker and do the shamrock shake!

It has been a while since I have had a McDonald’s Shamrock Shake but from what I remember this looked and tasted pretty similar. Loved the greed color and the creamy mint flavor. Oh, speaking of the mint flavor, I would like to share something that I found in my research. When I first thought about making a Shamrock Shake Martini I was unsure whether if was peppermint or spearmint flavor. Not peppermint! There are a few folks out there who are adamant about that. It is just regular mint (or spearmint) flavor which is why I used mint extract instead of my Starbucks Peppermint syrup. Happy to share that little tidbit with ‘ya!

Coconut Cream Martini For My Blogiversary

Today is Bargain-ista’s Blogiversary! One calendar year ago I began the Bargain-ista adventure! I have gone for a whole year without buying clothes. It really wasn’t hard. I started with a stockpile of clothes given to me by a friend and I have gotten so many hand-me downs from my sister that it has been a piece of cake (thank you, Sista)! In honor of this auspicious occasion I have created a coconut cream martini for my Blogiversary.

20121125-205425.jpg

Here is the recipe for a yummy Coconut Cream Martini:
8 oz. Pinnacle (or other) vodka
4 oz. Club Soda
4 oz. Toriani Coconut syrup (I used sugar free)
1 packet of Truvia or 1 T. sugar
3 T. Vanilla Creamer (I used sugar free) or half and half

Combine all ingredients into a martini shaker. Shake it up, woo-hoo! This martini is creamy and delicious! I love coconut cream pie so a coconut cream martini was a natural for my blogiversary. Only because I haven’t figured out how to make a carrot cake martini. Yet! Makes 2 martinis. Enjoy!

It has been an amazing year. I am not quite where I had hoped to be but I have learned so much along the way. Thank you all for your help and support!

Candy Corn Martini, Happy Halloween From Bargain-ista

Happy Halloween! Tonight I made a super-sweet Candy Corn martini with the candy corn infused vodka I made last week. It was sweet and delicious!

Recipe for Candy Corn Martinis
4 oz. candy corn infused vodka (recipe here)
4 oz. club soda
2 oz. Toriani Caramel Syrup (I used sugar free)
2 oz. Toriani Vanilla Syrup (I used sugar free)

Candy Corn Martini

Combine ingredients in a martini shaker. Shake it up while you do the Monster Mash! Makes 1 yummy candy corn martini.

Sweetness Disclaimer: I said before this was a super-sweet Candy Corn martini. Super-sweet for me is probably too sweet  for most.  For a less sweet version, cut the syrup in half or leave it out all together. While the Toriani Caramel and Vanilla Syrups added to the flavor, the infused candy corn vodka had absorbed the flavor of the candy corn quite well.

Additional Sweetness Disclaimer: Even though this vodka is called infused, the truth is that the candy corn actually dissolved into the vodka. The only problem with that being that not only is the flavor absorbed, but the calories and carbs would be absorbed as well. Happy to report there’s no fat though!

Cheers!

Candy Corn Infused Vodka

I have been doing some research on my next Martini Of The Month. I was thinking a Caramel Appletini sounded yummy, but my favorite Halloween candy ever is Candy Corn, so that will be the inspiration this month! I couldn’t remember the exact flavor of candy corn (other than sweeeet) to simulate it and I found a bunch of recipes online for candy corn infused vodka. So I made some! I chopped up a half of a cup of candy corn and put it in a Mason Jar and filled the rest up with vodka (about a cup and a half).

I am going to leave it alone for at least a week. But I am excited cuz it is already turning orange!

Living Room Redo – Day 18: Cheers To 100 Followers – Coastal Martini

I have been busy working on my Living Room Redo. Okay, I didn’t get much done on it today because I was at work, but I found out something great today. I have reached 100 followers! I am so happy! I thought of it for so long, and had a cheers recipe ready, but it didn’t happen so I kind of gave up on it and used the recipe for the Martini of the Month last month. But tonight I came home and got into mixologist mode and made a Coastal Martini. Just one. Cuz it’s a school night. Cheers to 100 followers!

Recipe for Coastal Martinis
4 oz. Pinnacle Whipped vodka
4 oz. Hypnotiq
4 oz. club soda
3 oz. Toriani Coconut Syrup

Combine ingredients in a martini shaker. Shake it up, shake it up, baby! Makes 1 beautiful aqua blue martini. Same color as my walls and tastes like vacation! OK, now back to DIY…

Martini Of The Month – Dulce De Leche Martini

I made this one a while ago but just realized it is the end of the month and no martini yet. We must remedy that situation right away! This martini is sweet and creamy, perfect for the last days of summer and the caramel suggests just a hint of fall.

Recipe for Dulce De Leche Martinis
8 oz. Pinnacle Cake vodka
4 oz. club soda
2 oz. Toriani Caramel Syrup
1 packet of Truvia or 1 T. sugar
3 T. Hazlenut Creamer (I used sugar free) or half and half
Combine ingredients in a martini shaker. Shake it, you won’t break it! OK, you might break the glass ;) Makes 2 martinis. Tastes like dessert in a glass. Yum!

Red, White & Blue Martini

In honor of Independence Day, I whipped up a batch of martinis. I selected the ingredients because of their colors, and fully intended on layering them in the glass one color on top of the other. That idea was completely unsuccessful as they mixed together in the glass. But the mixture was red, so I used blue glasses and rimmed the edge of the glass with white sugar (stevia).

Recipe For Red, White & Blue Martinis:
8 oz. Three Olives (or other) Cake vodka
Splash of vanilla creamer (I used sugar free)
8 oz. fruit punch (I used crystal light)
8 oz. Hypnotic liquor

Combine all ingredients into a martini shaker. Shake it up! Makes 2 martinis.

Although I picked these ingredients based on their colors, it really is quite a delicious combination. It was sweet and fruity like a creamy fruit tart! Yum!

Happy 4th of July!!!

Martini Of the Month – Limoncello Martini

I went a little crazy at Smart & Final. They had Toriani syrups on sale for $3.99 each when you buy six. So what did I do? I bought six of course! I use them all of the time, in mixed drinks, to flavor club soda, and coffee. I tried the lemon one the other day with some club soda and it tasted an awful lot like Limoncello. Sweet, strong, and lemony. I immediately knew it would make an awesome martini!

Here is how to make a Limoncello martini:

Recipe
8 oz. Smirnoff (or other) Vanilla vodka
8 oz. Toriani (or other) Lemon syrup (I used sugar free)
8 oz. club soda

Combine all ingredients into a martini shaker. Shaka, shaka, shaka! Makes 2 martinis. Perfect for a summer evening with someone special!
