I rescued this little bench! My boyfriend brought over a bunch of stuff for a yard sale that never happened. I never saw it but this little bench must have been part of the stuff:

The next thing I knew she was ready to go out with the trash. Not on my watch! I grabbed her so fast it would make your spin! This weekend my project was to do my bench makeover. I pried the top off with a screwdriver, gave her a good scrubbing, and let her dry.

Her legs were a little wonky so I used wood glue in all the corners and hammered them back into place. Note: cover wood with a towel or it could dent. Not that I know from personal experience…

After the wood glue dried, I gave it a couple of coats of paint. I use McKlosky Multi Use paint and primer all in one in Almond. It is my go-to paint! It has one coat coverage, but I usually do two coats, to cover any missed spots. And Almond isn’t an almond color, it is a perfect creamy off-white. See?

I let it dry overnight. I wanted it to have a similar finish to the shabby chic light I bought on eBay. I have no idea how they did it but it has a golden sheen to it. I made a glaze with equal parts glaze and gold acrylic paint:

I brushed it on.

And wiped it off.

While the glaze was drying, I recovered the seat. This was the easiest part! I used Mend It fabric bond to glue the lovely new fabric I bought at JoAnn’s to the old seat cover. It took five minutes, looks great, and was completely painless. I just brushed on the Mend It with a foam brush and stuck the new fabric to the old. I pulled it taught and made hospital corners at the corners. So easy! I will never again suffer the pain of the staple gun!

Here it is all done:

I just love her!!!
