Sheet Music Succulent Arrangement

It was my sister in law’s birthday last weekend and she said she wanted stuff for her garden. I was going to give her the fabric wrapped pot I made but it was not really her colors. She loves black and white and she is a musician. I thought – sheet music! I took a pot from the 99 Cent store and painted the rim black.

I used some old sheet music on the base of the pot. Mod Podged it on…

Another coat of Mod Podge over the whole thing and it was good to go! I filled it with potting soil and added succulents…

Fabric Wrapped Pot

I fell in love with those turquoise fabric wrapped pots I have seen thousands of times on Pinterest and decided to give it a go and make one of my own. My Mom got some great quilting fabric for a steal at a yard sale and she let me go through it before she passed it along to my aunt who is a quilter extraordinaire. I took a square and Mod Poged it to a clay pot I got at the 99 Cent

I wrapped and pressed and molded it to fit. I added an additional coat of Mod Podge on top for extra protection.

All done. Just needs some pretty flowers.

Garden Glass Globe

I saw this idea on Pinterest and I knew I had to make a garden glass globe! My friend at work gave me a glass globe that used to be on a light fixture. I bought some Christmas lights this week at the 99 Cent Store and rigged it up today with the lights and an extension cord.

It looks awesome at night! I only got a strand of 25 lights so I was concerned that it wouldn’t be very bright. But it was! It looks to be about the same brightness as the Pinterest version. I put this Garden Glass Globe in the same bed as my Firefly Lantern. Between the two of them, they light up the pathway quite nicely.

Here is the original image I fell in love with on Pinterest. Isn’t it awesome? It came from The Art Of Doing Stuff. Karen, the author of the blog, suggests using an extension cord if you need to and hiding it under mulch. I just used brown and green cords that, yes, are noticable at the moment, but as soon as the bougainvilla grows in won’t be noticable any longer.

Hanging Succulent Garden, More Hanging Succulent Terrariums

I made a hanging succulent garden with some more hanging succulent terrariums! I followed the same steps as in my hanging succulent terrariums post. Now I have a hanging succulent garden! I hung the terrariums on a carved wooden peg rack that I had in the garage. I thought about painting it but it was so pretty as it was. Look!

Hanging Succulent Garden, More Hanging Succulent Terrariums

I hope you enjoyed my Hanging Succulent Garden. A word to the wise when hanging succulent terrariums. Keep them out of full sun! Full sun will fry your sweet little succulents so fast it will make your head spin. They will be most happy in the shade or in bright filtered light.

These globes are so pretty! Because they are faceted, they sparkle and glisten when the light hits them. I love them so much…

Hanging Succulent Terrarium

Today I made a hanging succulent terrarium! It is so cute! All it took was some galvanized wire and a globe that I got at the 99 Cent Store. I saw these globes at the 99 Cent store and knew they would make something special, and then I thought…succulents! Perfect. Here is how I made a hanging succulent terrarium.
I took a pretty faceted glass globe…

20120729-212411.jpg

I cut some pieces of galvanized wire and curled the ends of one into an upward spiral for the handle.

I wrapped the other piece around the wire and the globe and twisted it so it was taught.

I curled the ends of that wire too. So pretty! It would make a lovely candle lantern as well.

But I didn’t stop there! I filled the globe about halfway with miracle grow potting soil, added some aquarium gravel for color, and added a succulent cutting.
