I did it again! I made a clutch purse out of a placemat. I was going to the Pasadena Bead and Design Show and wanted a new bag to go with the white dress I was planning to wear. I followed the same instructions as in my Placemat Clutch Purse Two (which is holding up perfectly, by the way, the only thing is the pretty pin pokes me under the arm but otherwise in tip top shape). I got a set of placemats years ago that I have never used. They are pretty, and I love them, but they have been sitting in the linen closet waiting. Waiting for this?
I have to say that this is my favorite of all my placemat clutch purses. The embroidery is perfect, and it lends itself so well to the folds of the bag. It is like it was meant to be a purse all along!
Update: I am impressed with how well this bag has stayed together. The Tacky Glue holds up really well too! After months of use there is no evidence of wear and tear. The only thing that needed reinforcing was the Velcro closures. I tried gluing them but they eventually gave way too. Next time I make one I will reinforce it with a few stitches with a needle and thread.
