I have discovered something. I have lived on the same map my whole life! That’s right, the San Gabriel Valley edition of the Los Angeles cities series, come to find out. I have lived 8 different places, not including the hospital I was born in, which is coincidently on the same map.
I have been enthralled by all of the map projects circulating on Pinterest and in Blogland and decided to jump on the bandwagon and make some map projects. The best part is that maps are free at the Auto Club if you are a member! The first project I made was map coasters of all the places I have lived.
Here is everything you need to make map coasters:

I started by plotting out all of the places I have lived on the map (not easy) and then tracing out the coasters in pencil (really not easy) but after some configuring and a bit of erasing I had my circles drawn. I marked the places I have lived with a turquoise Sharpie. I cut them out with scissors and applied Mod Podge to the coasters and laid the map circles on top. I covered everything with a coat of Mod Podge.

Can you see the turquoise dot in the lower right corner? That’s my street!

With a glass of sangria, so perfect for summer!

What a great idea to remember the places you have been. Maps decor seems to be really big right now, I can easily see these as gifts for people. Thanks for posting in the Our Favorite Things Link Party.
I love this idea! Recently, my daughter needed to measure a map as part of her math homework, and when I finally found one in the glovebox of the car, I realized it was over 13 years old! Since we use our smartphones to navigate these days, I added the map to our art project box, and now you have given us a way to use it. Looks like I now have a good reason to go buy some mod podge, too.
