Chalkboard, Bargain-ista Style!

My project this weekend was to make a chalkboard. I saw this one at work, and fell in love immediately! This one came from a fancy schmancy store and probably cost more than a tank of gas.

I knew I had to make one. I have been keeping my eyes peeled for something oval so I could mix up some chalk board paint and go to town. But I was in luck when I saw this chalkboard at the 99 Cent Store.

It came with chalk and everything! I peeled off the border and started working on removing the glue. Does anyone have a DIY recipe for Goo Gone? That would have helped! I sprayed the clay flowers and leaves that I made with cream colored spray paint. When they dried I applied acrylic paints. Olive green on the leaves and tan on the flowers. I wiped off a lot of the paint on the flowers.

I used a ribbon to trim the edges of the chalkboard.

All finished!
